Who are “Underwriters”
Underwriters are businesses that donate money to public radio. In turn, the radio station broadcasts “underwriting announcements” to acknowledge these sponsors. These 20-second announcements provide factual information about the business (e.g. products, services, location, hours, etc.), without the promotional language, prices, and calls-to-action found in commercials.
